Dignity
Every person deserves respect and dignity.
NVA – Nakivale Victims Association brings together LGBTIQ refugees and allies to promote dignity, inclusion, community connection and access to information and support.
Our primary goal is to support and help all those who may be concerned, in the Nakivale refugee camp, by a supposed discrimination or put aside because of their sexual orientation or their identity, gender and / or their HIV status. At the same time, the association aims to improve visibility and remove prejudices against Lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transsexuals, intersex, and questioning within the refugee camps of Nakivale. Promote equal rights for all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or their sex or gender identities.
The second goal of this association is to disseminate in the Nakivale refugee camp, information on the prevention and therapy of the HIV epidemic and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). This mission is carried out in partnership with competent bodies.
The third goal of this association is to bring together gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, intersex, questioning, and “Allies” personnel from Nakivale so that together they carry out sporting, cultural, humanitarian, charitable and festive projects, and by therefore to fight against isolation, the first consequence of discrimination.
To defend the rights and dignity of LGBTIQ refugees and allies, strengthen community connections, promote access to reliable information and contribute to safer and more inclusive communities.
A community where LGBTIQ refugees and allies can live with dignity, equality, safety, visibility and meaningful connection.
